![]() ![]() In June, I started working out a couple days a week. I didn’t like the way I looked I didn’t like how my clothes fit and overall, I was unhappy with my self. I have been a member and off/on attender of Body Works Gym for a really long time, but when I hit the 200 pound mark I knew it was time to get serious. My fitness journey has lead to a lifestyle and career that is more rewarding than I could have ever imagined and I look forward to every day.įebruary 2016 Member of the Month: Mary Griffith My passion shined through enough that Justin offered me a position at Body Works so I could continue to learn and give this feeling and energy to the people in the community I grew up in. ![]() I wanted to share this feeling with anyone I could find. I never knew I could feel so good or have as much energy as I do now. He gave me the knowledge and tools I needed to change my life. I got a free month membership through FFLAG's Biggest Winner program and included was free personal training with Justin Baker, the gym's owner. It was unlike any gym I had ever been to. Over the course of my journey I fell in love with fitness, health, and the gym environment: specifically the environment at Body Works Gym. Over the course of the last 2 years I have managed to reach a weight of 205 pounds with 19% body fat. In October 2014 I began my fitness journey at a weight of 375 pounds with 54% body fat. Body Works and the staff would be a great choice to go to get started on the road to a happier and healthier life.” (When you have an active 7 year old grandson living with you these things are great.) I would urge anyone who has been thinking about joining a gym to just quit thinking and do it. I go 5 days a week now and can definitely tell the results in terms of health, weight loss, endurance, strength, and energy. ![]() At my last check-up it was 67!! What a difference diet and exercise can make! My numbers were usually running around 240. I have battled high cholesterol for years. I had to change my diet, of course, and that is where my wife came in with her support and planned the meals based around the nutrition plan Justin gave me. Billie and Justin have been patient, encouraging, and very helpful. My goal was to lose weight and to gain muscle tone. “I started at 203 pounds and my goal was to get to 170 pounds. I now look forward to going to the gym, and miss it if I don't go. That is due to how helpful everyone at the gym has been. I have gone from being very timid and self-conscious when I started to now feeling completely comfortable when I go in the gym. Everyone that works there has been very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Everybody at the gym has been really supportive. Justin, Billie, and Josh have helped me learn workouts. In fact, I have just recently started jogging. I find myself accomplishing things I never thought I would. It feels great to get the compliments from people I have none for a while telling me I am doing a good job and keep up the work. Overall at this point, I have lost 75 pounds. About every six weeks I get a new workout routine from Justin. I changed a lot of my eating habits and have continued to work out. ![]() I also took the nutrition class that Justin offers at the beginning of January 2017. I received an eating plan and followed it closely. In December of 2016 I began working with Justin because I wanted to switch up my workout routine. After 5-6 months I got up enough courage to talk to Billie about lifting weights in addition to cardio. I received a work out plan and ended up losing 35 pounds from that. At first I just walked the treadmill or rode the bikes. In November 2015 I decided I needed to find some place to start working out so I joined Body Works Gym.
